"Myers Briggs" is a way of understanding people and has been found useful in increasing the effectiveness of education programs, team building, and leadership. I completed a modified and abridged version of Preference types from the Myers-Briggs test. According to this instrument, my "personality preferences" are:
Extrovert: outgoing, speaks up, sociable, likes groups, seeks and gives feedback, wants feedback.
Intuitive: focuses more on big picture, is more theoretical, not as interested in details and facts. Likes a mission and talking about possibilities and theories.
Feeler: People-Oriented, subjective, appreciative, involved. Works to maintain and believes goals will be achieved through harmony. Feels that arguing is disruptive.
Judger: Well-organized, structured, in control and definite. Likes deadlines. Makes quick decisions, needs standards and clear expectations. Focuses on product and adjusts to schedules.
NASSP 21st Century Administrator Skills
The National Association of Secondary School Principals has identified a series of skills necessary for successful school leaders. As part of our NELA coursework, we assessed ourselves on these skills in October 2010, and again in April 2012 and identified our "skill quotients" in each skill dimension. A "skill quotient" of one is low, and five is high. The table below displays my self-assessment at the beginning and the end of my tenure as a NELA Fellow.
